James "Jim" Trifunov (Jarkovac, Serbia, July 18, 1903 – Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 27, 1993) was a Serbian-Canadian freestyle sport wrestler who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics, in the 1928 Summer Olympics, and in the 1932 Summer Olympics.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=James Trifunov Olympic Results )〕 Wrestler James Trifunov of Regina competed in three Olympic Games and won a bronze medal in the Amsterdam Olympics in 1928. Trifunov took part in the 1924 Paris, 1928 Amsterdam, and 1932 Los Angeles Olympic games. The 1928 games in Amsterdam saw Trifunov obtain his best international results, a bronze medal for Canada. As both a featherweight and bantamweight contender, Trifunov accumulated a total of ten national championships between 1923 and 1932. He won the 1930 British Empire Games (later to be known as the Commonwealth Games) gold in the bantamweight category. Trifunov only had one defeat on Canadian soil throughout his entire wrestling career. Upon retirement, James Trifunov remained active in wrestling as a three-time Canadian Olypic coach at the 1952 Helsinki, 1956 Melbourne, and 1960 Rome games. Trifunov was induced into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1960, and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of fame in 1966.
